Bike Shorts a Resounding Success!!

First off, we would like to sincerely thank all those who came out last night to the Bikes Shorts Film Fest!  It was amazing to see so many people get on their bikes and ride out for an evening of bicycle film fun – nearly 60% of the movie-goers rode their bikes to the event, including a rider who was 9 months pregnant!!  Whoot!!

We would also like to sincerely thank the sponsors of the event, including Hardcore Bikes, Speed Matrix, and Marin Bikes.

As was mentioned last night, please check out the Fat Tire Tuesday mountain bike race series, which is sponsored by Hardcore Bikes.  The first race goes this Tuesday (May 10) in Terwilligar Park.  You can find more info here.  Also, keep in mind that June is bike month in Edmonton, and the Bikeology Festival will be running fantastic events (many of them free) nearly every day throughout June! Keep your eye on their website for more details.

Finally, we just wanted to mention that through the generous support of all those bike lovers who came out last night, we were able to raise over $800 for Right To Play, an organization whose mission is “to improve the lives of children in some of the most disadvantaged areas of the world by using the power of sport and play for development, health and peace”.  Not bad for an evening filled with laughter, fun, and bikes.

I hope this event inspired you all to get out riding (frontwards or backwards, on big bikes or little bikes) and to maybe even make your own Bike Short for next year – like this one (courtesy of David Roberts)!
